Brian Onstot is a Testifying Expert and Senior Forensic Case Analyst. He joined BioRec® in 2016 and has a degree in Bioengineering from Arizona State University. In addition to his engineering degree, Mr. Onstot has received training specific to the field of accident reconstruction. Brian has received training from the Northwestern University – Center for Public Safety, Crash Data Group, and the Collision Safety Institute. Mr. Onstot is an accredited accident reconstructionist by the Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction (ACTAR). As a CDR Technician and Analyst, he has experience in imaging Event Data Recorders (EDR) from passenger vehicles and interpreting the data for reconstructing accidents. Brian is certified in the use of the FARO Focus 3D laser scanner. Mr. Onstot has also completed the Human Factors for Traffic Crash Reconstruction: Analysis of Drivers’ Responses course.
Brian is a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE International), the Southwestern Association of Technical Accident Investigators (SATAI), and the National Association of Professional Accident Reconstruction Specialists (NAPARS). Previous to BioRec®, Mr. Onstot conducted research in a Motion Analysis laboratory and cadaveric biomechanics laboratory. Mr. Onstot has researched and published on topics including human gait, lower extremity biomechanics, and upper extremity biomechanics in both live subjects and cadavers. His Undergraduate Senior Design Project involved designing and construction a driving simulator to measure the Brake Reaction Time and brake force application in lower extremity joint replacement patients.
At BioRec®, Mr. Onstot consults on cases involving accident reconstruction issues, Event Data Recorders, evidence preservation, restraint systems, pedestrian and bicycle impacts, and slip and falls.
