Slips, Trips & Falls

Slip and Fall Investigations
Biomechanics is a field which includes the study of gait – how people walk, run, slip, trip, and fall. A person’s fall potential is related to both environmental factors and human factors. Examples of environmental factors include the slipperiness of the support surface, the angle of inclination and variations in heights either above or below the support surface. Examples of the human factors include, the manner of ambulation (i.e. walking or running), the pedestrian’s awareness of his/her environment, and the person’s visual and neuromuscular capabilities. Once a fall event has initiated there is potential for injury upon ground contact.

The biomechanical experts at BioRec® have analyzed many fall related events involving both falls from heights and ground-level falls. They can help explain how and why a pedestrian falls and if the fall event could have been avoided.
