Accident Reconstruction / Accident Avoidance

Accident Reconstruction / Accident Avoidance

Accident reconstruction cases involve a detailed investigation of a vehicular collision. Issues to be addressed may include vehicle speeds, impact severity, accident timing, accident causation, perception/reaction, visual obstructions and traffic signal timing. Accident avoidance cases involve using the results of an accident reconstruction to determine whether an accident could have been avoided under alternative driving strategies, such as traveling at the speed limit, following another vehicle at a greater distance, or perceiving and reacting to a hazard in a timely manner.

Perception Response and Accident Avoidance

BioRec’s experts can evaluate a driver’s actions leading up to an accident which can include visibility studies and evaluating a driver’s response to a roadway hazard (vehicle, bicycle, pedestrian, etc.). This can be utilized with a complete accident reconstruction to analyze the potential for Accident Avoidance. This allows for the evaluation of driver distraction, avoidance strategies, and the role of vehicle speed in an accident.

Nighttime Visibility Evaluation

Our experts at BioRec® can evaluate the lighting conditions affecting driver visibility in the roadway environment and how visibility played a role in the accident sequence.
